Student Opportunities
Undergraduate and Graduate Programs
We offer comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs designed to prepare students for successful careers in chemistry and biochemistry. Our faculty are committed to guiding students through their academic journeys.
Graduate Program Application
The application process for our graduate program is straightforward and consists of two key stages. Initially, you will complete our online application form without incurring any fees. This approach allows us to assess candidates based on merit before any financial commitment.
Application Timeline
- Fall semester applications are reviewed starting December 1 of the previous year.
- Spring semester applications are reviewed starting September 1 of the previous year.
We recommend submitting applications as early as possible to ensure timely processing, especially for international students.
Submitting Your Application
In the first stage of the application process, you will need to provide:
- Basic biographical information
- Academic performance (GPA or equivalent)
- Contact details for at least three references
- A personal statement and a summary of your qualifications
- Official transcripts
- Optional: GRE scores, resume or CV
International Applicants

The application process involves submitting your materials for review by the Graduate Admissions Committee. We do not have a cap on the number of students we accept, as admissions are based on qualifications and departmental needs.
Eligibility and Requirements
We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, without specific prerequisites. The application fee is waived for the initial screening, but a $75 fee is required upon formal admission to the Graduate School.
Document Submission
While official transcripts aren’t needed at the beginning, they must be submitted before enrolling in the Graduate School. Personal identification documents like passports should not be included in your application.
Funding Opportunities
Admitted Ph.D. students receive full tuition coverage, health benefits, and a competitive stipend. Given Alabama’s affordable cost of living, our financial support provides a great opportunity for students to focus on their studies.
Application Review Timeline
