Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl has arrived, and for those of us grappling with less powerful PCs, there’s an encouraging solution: GeForce Now. This cloud gaming service allows players to dive into the immersive world of Stalker 2 without the need for high-end hardware. While the game boasts stunning atmospherics, it also demands a significant amount of processing power, often leaving mid-range systems struggling.

A Thrilling Yet Demanding Experience

In a recent review, a fellow gamer remarked that Stalker 2 is “the best but most broken game I’ve played all year,” and I couldn’t agree more. With my own setup, featuring an Intel i7 processor and an Nvidia RTX 2070, I experienced frequent texture pop-ins and frame rate drops, especially in bustling areas filled with NPCs. On top of that, I lost count of how many times the sound effects for my weapons inexplicably cut out.

Cloud Gaming: A Solution for All

Back on my less capable laptop, which only has integrated graphics, I found solace in my fast internet connection. That’s all you need to stream games through GeForce Now. This service streams games you already own from Nvidia’s servers, allowing you to play on various devices, including smartphones, Macs, and smart TVs, without investing in costly hardware upgrades.

• Free Tier: Experience the service with ads and a one-hour session limit, perfect for a quick trial.
• Performance Tier: Enjoy ad-free play with six-hour sessions and enhanced visuals thanks to Nvidia RTX.
• Ultimate Tier: Offers eight-hour sessions and DLSS frame generation, ensuring smoother gameplay even in the most demanding scenarios.

I personally use the Ultimate Tier, but for many gamers, the Performance Tier strikes a great balance at half the price.

Current Promotions and Changes

If you’re interested in exploring the service, there’s a current promotion offering 25% off day passes for both the Premium and Ultimate memberships, available until November 22. It’s an excellent opportunity to test out which tier suits you best.

Looking ahead, starting January 1, 2025, GeForce Now will introduce a monthly playtime cap of 100 hours to ensure a better experience for all users. However, players can roll over up to 15 unused hours into the next month. This means if you play 85 hours one month, you can enjoy 115 hours the following month. But keep in mind that this rollover only lasts for one month, and it’s not possible to compensate in the opposite direction.

Alongside Stalker 2, GeForce Now is also adding the Game of the Year editions of Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. As a longtime fan of the Fallout series, Fallout 3 remains my all-time favorite, and I’m excited to see it included in the lineup.
