Graduate Admissions

  • Do you accept applications for spring or summer?

    No, we only admit new students once a year, beginning in the fall semester.

  • Is there a minimum GRE score requirement?

    No, we do not have a minimum GRE score requirement, nor do we require the GRE for admission. Each applicant’s file is evaluated based on a comprehensive review of all submitted materials.

  • What is Auburn’s GRE code?

    The institutional GRE code for Auburn is 1005.

  • Is there a direct path to a PhD program?

    No, students must apply separately for the MA and PhD programs. MA students wishing to continue to the PhD program can apply during their second year.

  • When will I learn about my acceptance?

    Applicants will receive admission decisions by mid-March.

  • What are the foreign language proficiency requirements?

    MA students must demonstrate reading proficiency in one foreign language by graduation. PhD students need proficiency in two languages or advanced proficiency in one. Detailed requirements can be found in the Graduate Student Handbook.
